The Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France (ASMCF) was founded in 1979 to provide a forum for those involved in teaching and researching modern France and the Francophone world. From its creation it has been an interdisciplinary association and draws its members from a wide range of academic disciplines and departments in higher and further education in the UK and overseas. In 1992 it became a registered charity.
